Speed Study 2015 Summary

Summary

The City of Bellevue positioned their speed monitoring device halfway between 172nd PL SE and 173rd PL SE, on SE 40th PL. All references to Eastbound and Westbound are relative to this location on SE 40th PL.

Out of a daily average of 321 cars traveling Eastbound on SE 40th PL, 2.1 (.6%) cars are hitting 35+ mph, and 27.1 (8%) cars are between 30-35 mph. Since the speeders who are at least 5 mph over the speed limit are 8% and under, a neighborhood watch campaign to observe who is doing this speeding is the best way to control this. We will request a temporary radar monitoring dolly to be located close to where the speed study location was conducted, facing Eastbound traffic. If you observe someone speeding above 30 mph, send us a description of their car and if possible, their license plate. Note: most 35+ mph speeding occurs Eastbound on the weekend, but is evenly distributed throughout the week in the 30-35 mph range.
