We jointly contribute to needed meeting topics, construct newsletters, brainstorm and informally answer questions and address problems of the residents. My kids run notices to doorsteps as needed. There is a good deal of informal interfacing with residents as we walk around the block and do our own yardwork. We try to recruit more volunteers to head up projects.
FYI, I have a relative who lives in a subdivision that is the same age as ours. However, the homes are on horse acres and in the $750+ range. The HOA board fell apart over time and landscaping is overgrown, making the neighborhood look shabby. There is no standard for upkeep and it shows. It once was a beautiful neighborhood with community pride. Our homes have better curb appeal due to the efforts of many to keep up our neighborhood. We must have cooperative people who can create synergy for steady action.
